IFC: We lost out away to Emyvale in our last Intermediate Football Championship Group Two game last Sunday. A John McCrystal goal and scores by Daragh Croarkin, Kevin Moran, Dean Doherty and Fionán Ó Gallchóir had us ahead by 1-7 to 0-8 at half-time, but we struggled to add to our tally during the second half. Points from Kevin Loughran and Fionán kept us in touch, but a late goal by Emyvale put it beyond our reach.

Minors: Our minors got off the mark in the championship with an exciting win over Rock Sarsfields in Killeevan on Saturday. Despite two early goals by Rhys Coyle, we trailed by 1-10 to 2-4 at the break. The game continued to ebb and flow throughout the second half, where further goals from Alex Flynn (two), Conor Farmer, Seán Lambe and Rhys, along with some determined defending and goalkeeping saw us clinch a hard-earned win. Our next game is away to Tyholland on Saturday week, September 19.

U-16: Our U-16 teams have two big games this week: starting with the Division Four championship final against Inniskeen on Saturday at 2pm in Blackhill. Our Division One side host Truagh in their championship semi-final on Monday evening. Good luck to our players and management. All support appreciated. 

 

U-12: Our U-12 Division Six team have a shield final v Latton this Sunday morning. Good luck to everyone involved.

Meeting: The club’s monthly meeting for September takes place in the clubhouse on Thursday at 8pm. 

 

Sympathies: Cumann Cláirsigh Mhuineacháin express sincere sympathies to the Smyth family on the sad passing of Brian, brother of Harps Gael Owen and uncle to former player and current juvenile coach Shane. We keep his children Elizabeth, Fiona, John, Margaret, Claire, Amy, Michael and the extended Smyth family in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. 

We also express our sincere sympathies to the Brett family on the sad passing of Aideen’s brother, Fergal. Aideen is a coach with our U-12 girls’ team, while Vinnie, Daimhin, Niall, Ailbhe and Alfie are all heavily involved in our juvenile teams. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.
