Monaghan Harps Lotto: The numbers for last Sunday’s draw were 6, 11, 23 and 30. Jackpot of €3,400 not won. This week’s four €40 lucky-dip prize winners were: Stephen Connolly c/o Paddy Donnelly; Neill McGinn c/o himself; Seán Morahan c/o Kevin Treanor; and Raymond McKenna c/o Marian O’Brien. The sellers’ prize of €20 was won by our senior footballers. Jackpot for Sunday, August 16 is €3,500. Thanks to everyone for continuing to support our Lotto and to the committee and the regular helpers for their efforts in keeping the show on the road and providing essential funding towards our development work over the last three decades. We would greatly appreciate if every family involved in the club would consider setting up a recurring Lotto entry via ClubZap. Please note that the cut-off point for ClubZap each week is 6pm on Sunday.

Tessie Connolly RIP: Our club has this week been mourning the loss of a truly great servant and club president, Tessie Connolly. Tessie was a true Harps Gael and a consistent figure around Gavan Duffy for generations of players and supporters. Tessie was a volunteer like no other, always willing to give her time to help the club whatever way she could. From club president, lotto committee and even tuck-shop boss, Tessie did it all with great ease. We keep her children Geraldine, Frank, Ursula, Paudge and the extended Connolly family in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

IFC: We started our Intermediate Football Championship campaign with a win at home to Éire Óg last Friday. Two goals by John McCrystal and points from Oisín Fagan, Dylan McKenna and Fionán Ó Gallchóir helped us lead by 2-3 to 0-5 at half-time and Fionán and John hit the net again after the restart. Seán Callan, Dara Mullin, Michael Galligan and Éimhín Morahan added their names to the scoresheet as we sealed the win.

Team and scorers: Daragh Croarkin; Ethan McCaffrey, Jake McConnon, Shane Moran; Nicholas Scott, Gary Devlin, Dean Doherty; Lochlainn Power (Capt.), Dylan McKenna (0-2); Oisín Fagan (0-1), Seán Callan (0-2, 1 2-pt-f), Dara Mullin (0-1); Michael Galligan (0-3), Fionán Ó Gallchóir (1-3), John McCrystal (3-2).

We are away to Ballybay this Saturday at 7pm. All support appreciated.

Minors: Our minors take on Rock Sarsfields in the Division Two Shield Final this evening (Thursday) in Killeevan at 6.45pm. Good luck to all involved. All support appreciated.

U-16: Our U-16 Division One team had a hard-earned win away to Scotstown last Thursday. Points by Gabriel Cunningham, Séadanta Ó Grianna, Calum McCaffrey and Conall McGinnity kept our lads in touch during the first half, which ended with Scotstown up by 1-4 to 0-4. A couple of two-pointers by Calum and a goal by Conall set us up to win by 1-11 to 1-9, despite a late scare.

Team and scorers: Callum McCullagh; Tristan Brannigan, Darragh Garvey, Finn McCaffrey; Moustapha Mbaye, Liam Ginley, Cillian McKenna; Matthew Duffy, Conor O’Neill; Gabriel Cunningham (0-1), Kyron Coughlan, Daimhin Brett; Calum McCaffrey (0-6, 1 2-pt, 1 2-pt-f, 2f), Séadanta Ó Grianna (0-2), Conall McGinnity (1-2).
