A message from our senior football manager Paddy Kelly:

A chairde,

It’s been just over five weeks since we won the Monaghan Intermediate Championship for 2020.

A year to be forever remembered mostly for the devastating consequences of the COVID 19 pandemic.

However, the Monaghan Harps senior team also made memories for the history books.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to celebrate our fantastic achievement the way we truly deserved but most importantly we didn’t get the opportunity to thank the people who helped and played a massive part on our journey to our captain Ógie McAnespie lifting the Paddy O’Rourke Cup on that glorious Saturday evening in Clones.

Firstly, I want to thank the Monaghan Harps club and committee for giving me the opportunity and having the faith in me to manage these inspiring young men, and also the support and backing to realise our vision to bring this team back to senior football.

I want to thank our main sponsor Barry Lavery of Monar and the sponsors and businesses from Monaghan Town for their continued support in these challenging times.

Our club supporters for the help and encouragement throughout our campaign. We were well aware of your disappointment at being unable to see us play and support us from the terraces, but this drove us on all the more to win every game.

Our backroom team of Ryan, Steven, Mickey, Aaron, Colm, and Seán our kitman, the attention to detail was of the highest quality.

Our team medic/physio Dale.

Our COVID officer Ciarán who did a brilliant job ensuring we were in a safe and secure environment when we were together.

We want to thank the families, wives and partners who made sacrifices to support this team week after week.

I, on behalf of our management team, want to thank our players for their commitment and their sacrifices to fulfil their goal of winning the championship.

The standards they set and respect for their club is something that needed to be noted. The honesty and unity of this squad are a few of the many qualities they possess.

I apologise if this message seems long-winded, but I felt it was time to acknowledge the people that played their part in our success.

Paddy Kelly
